Is an avocado a fruit?

A creative opening line and more tips that will help you not be forgotten after the exhibition.

How do you make sure exhibition visitors remember you? Create memories! And preferably memories that stay with your visitors long after the exhibition.

If you know how people create memories, you can create lasting memories as an exhibitor. And that’s good for your brand!

Do you want to create lasting memories? Then keep the following 4 points in mind:

1 – Visitors remember feelings

Stand visitors will not always remember how you communicated or what you said exactly. But they will always remember how you made them feel. What feeling do you want an exhibition visitor to walk up to your stand with? Inspired? Exuberant? Understood? Happy?

When you start a conversation, don’t start immediately with the usual product pitch or with an obvious question like: “Can I help you?” You can also start a conversation with openers like “Is an avocado a fruit? And if so, is this the tastiest fruit?” Then you get a different feeling right away!

2 – Visitors remember surprises

It is scientifically proven: an unexpected event creates memories in your brain.

Try to think of something you can add to the stand that is completely out-of-the-box. For example, address all five senses by exposing visitors to a specific scent, giving them a structure they can hold or offering a unique VR experience. Make sure your stand visitor is surprised, such as food prepared by a local chef or a 4D experience with movement, wind and water.

3 – Visitors remember simple communication

When visitors read something, they work on their short-term memory. Avoid complicated language. Make sure your message is simple, clear and easy to remember. The routing in the stand should be designed in such a way that every visitor walks to the right place. This way the stand qualifies the stand visitors. This ensures that your stand team has more time to speak with visitors who are actually interested in your offer.

4 – Visitors remember repetition

Repetition is crucial in communication prior to the event. Make sure you target your audience with the same message in invitations, social media and advertisements. This way visitors will remember you before they have met you!
